Biography

Current principal clarinet of Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, Tang Wei-Guo is also a member of Ange Clarinet Quartet and Chinese Clarinet Union (CCU).
Under the tutelage of prof. Chi Zheng, Wei-Guo attained his bachelor’s at Xian conservatory in 2005. A year later, he successfully auditioned to the position of principal clarinet at the EOS orchestra, embarking on a Artist diploma at EOS Orchestra Academy at Central Conservatory in Beijing with prof. Fan Lei at the same time.

Mr.Tang is also a prize winner in several important clarinet competitions in China, most notably 1st prize at the national clarinet competition in 2001 and 2nd prize at the China young artist concerto competition in 2005.
Passionate about developing interest in the clarinet in China, Wei-Guo has given masterclasses in conservatories and festivals around China, for example Xi’an International Clarinet Festival (2018), and Qingdao international clarinet masterclass, (2018). Wei-Guo is a Backun Artist and performs on Backun Lumière Clarinets.
