Tang Weiguo is currently serving as the Principal Clarinetist of the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra and as the distinguished professor appointed by the Academy of Music, Guizhou University. Tang is the founder of the Ange Clarinet Quartet and an initial member of Chinese Clarinet Union (CCU). Tang also wears other hats as a Backun artist and the brand ambassador of Gleichweit.
Born in the Chinese ancient city Xi’an, Tang began clarinet study from an early age with Professor Chi Zheng from Xi'an Conservatory of Music. He studied at the Xi'an Conservatory of Music Affiliated Middle School, Xi’an Shi Yucai Middle School, and earned admission into the Department of Orchestral Instruments at the Xi'an Conservatory of Music after he won the first prize in the national clarinet competition. Tang then won the second prize at the China Young Artist Concerto Competition, which helped him earn the approval from Dean Hu Yongyan and was enrolled into the Central Conservatory of Music to study with Professor Fan Lei. During this time, he joined EOS as the Principal Clarinetist as the start of his professional career.
In addition, Tang also actively performs as a soloist and an Indoor musician. Tang was invited as a special artist by the Guiyang Jazz Big Band and founded the Ange Clarinet Quartet. Tang takes initiative to promote clarinet education in national and international academic communication through his classes at the Academy of Music, Guizhou University and supports to CCU.
