About

He was born in Canena (Andalusia). He completed Bachelor in the Royal Conservatory of Madrid (RR. CC Superior de Madrid) with Professor Justo Sanz. Later, he expanded his studies with José Luis Estellés and finally completed his Master in Classical and Contemporary Performance at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) with his master Josep Fuster. He received several courses of historical performance from Erich Hoeprich and Carles Riera. His education also includes the Master in New Technologies in Education from UDIMA University.

Manuel is a member of orchestras such as Orquesta Filarmónica de España (OFE), Joven Orquesta de Andalucía (OJA), Orquesta Sinfónica y de Cámara del RR.CC. Superior de Madrid and nowadays, he collaborates with Orquesta de Córdoba, Camerata Gala (Córdoba), Orquesta de Barcelona (OBC) and Orquesta Sinfónica de Andalucía (Málaga). 

In chamber music, he was a member of Córdoba Wind Quintet, and has collaborated with the Averroes String Quartet, with whom he has performed repertoire for clarinet and string quartet. He has travelled for several recitals with piano in Spain, Portugal, Estonia, Bulgaria, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Germany or Denmark together with pianists Juanjo Mudarra and Víctor López. Likewise, the Cordoban composer Santiago Baéz dedicated the work “Purple Pieces for solo clarinet” to him and has premiered several works by composer Rafael Díaz. 

As a soloist, he won the 2nd National Clarinet Competition held in Cullera (Valencia) and performed Op. 34 and Concertino Op. 26 by Carl M. von Weber and Mozart Concerto K. 622. 

He has recorded the 4th Symphony and 3 Lieder of G. Mahler for Ensemble and Soprano with Camerata Gala for the prestigious lbs Classical label, and for Melian Music, the BSOs of Roque Baños with Orquesta de Córdoba.

In the pedagogical field, he has taught as a guest teacher in universities, conservatories and music schools throughout Europa and is the current Manager of “Clarisur Canena,” a summer Course, with the sponsorship of Backun Musical Services. Likewise, he is an Artist-endorser of Backun España- Portugal and Légère Reeds. 

Currently, he holds the Chair of Professor of Clarinet in Conservatorio Superior de Málaga.
