About

Jung Hwan Park is the Principal Clarinetist of the Korean Symphony Orchestra.  Previously, he served as the Associate Principal Clarinetist of the Korean Symphony Orchestra and Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra.

Mr. Park has played as a guest Principal Clarinetist with many prestigious orchestras, such as the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Hwaum Chamber Orchestra, Seoul Sinfonietta, Kyunggi Philharmonic Orchestra, ChoongNam Philharmonic Orchestra, Euro-Asian Philharmonic Orchestra, and KBS Symphony Orchestra.

As a soloist, Mr. Park has performed solos with many orchestras, including the Korean Symphony Orchestra, Incheon Sinfonietta, Seoul Sinfonietta, and Hwaum Chamber Orchestra. He has also performed recitals in many different venues, such as the Kumho Young-Artists Series, Arte TV showcase broadcast, and Japan Clarinet Association.

As a chamber musician, Mr. Park has appeared on series throughout Korea and the United States. They include: the Seoul Arts Center Summer Chamber Music Series, Seoul Arts Center Artist Lounge Series, Korea International Music Festival, TIMF Ensemble Series including Isang Yun Festival, Hwaum Project Series, New York Woodwind Quintet Seminar, Focus! Festival, and New Juilliard Ensemble. Festival appearances include Cape May, Pacific Music Festival, and Bowdoin.

He is the first prize winner of the 30th Joong-Ang Music Competition and received the Alderman Scholarship and Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund.

He has also been involved in many recording projects, such as the Juilliard Wind Ensemble, Bruckner 9 Symphonies (Decca DD41143), and soloed in a piece called Byung-Dong Paik & Hwaum Chamber released by Sony (SB70218C).

Mr. Park is currently a clarinet faculty member at the Korean National University of Arts, Dongduk Women's University, and Sunhwa Arts High School and Middle School.

He previously taught at Yonsei University, Ewha Women’s University, Chugye Arts College, City College of Seoul, SookMyung Women's University, Baeksuk University, Suwon University, and Goyang Arts High School.

He received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from The Juilliard School and is currently a D'Addario artist.
