Born in Pilas (Seville), Antonio José Quintero studied with Francisco Pizarro and Antonio García Herrera at the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Manuel Castillo" in Seville. Later he took courses with Dimitri Ashkenazy, Andreas Sundén, Michel Lethiec and Josep Fuster, among others,
He won first prizes at the Chamber Music Competition organized by The Royal Master of Cavalry and the Conservatory of Triana, and at the Young soloists Music Competition organized by the "Manuel Castillo" Conservatory of Seville.
As an orchestral musician, he has played with the Orchestra of the Academy of the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), the Agrupación Artistico-Musical de Denia (Alicante) (with which he participated in the International Music Festival "Wonju Tatto" in South Korea in 2006), and the Adagio Sierra Young Orchestra. He also played with the Orchestra and Choir of the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona in numerous operatic productions and recordings, including Verdi's "Rigoletto", Rossini's "La gazzetta" (with artistic direction by Dario Fó), Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony", Brahms' "Serenata no.1" or Ravel's "Piano concerto in Sol Major", under the musical direction of Jesús López Cobos, Guerassim Voronkov, Salvador Mas or Mauricio Barbacini, among others.
He taught at the Municipal Symphony Band of Seville and, in 2008, he became a professor of Music and Performing Arts at the Junta de Andalucía, developing his pedagogical work at the Professional Conservatories "Javier Perianes" in Huelva and "Francisco Guerrero" and "Cristóbal de Morales" in Seville.
He currently teaches at the Professional Conservatory of Music "Joaquín Villatoro" in Jerez de la Frontera and serves as Principal Clarinet of the Álvarez Beigbeder Orchestra in the same city. An active chamber musician, he plays regularly with pianist Alborada Moreno and maintains an intense schedule of concerts with different musical ensembles.
