I have a Backun Alpha Synthetic, and I bought the Cocobolo Lumière Bell.
I am doing this review after 5 days of using it; I waited on purpose. Because from the 1st day, I was mmm wow, “I loved it” is it really sound like that and will sound always like that?.
It was maybe my mouthpiece, or the temperature, or any other variable, etc but yes, from the 1st day I noticed the difference; the difference is not so subtle.
I am very happy with the Alpha, and now, a lot more, the stock Bell is very good indeed. I love the resonance of it; however, I was searching for a broader, sweeter, and slightly brighter/lighter tone compared to the darker, more centered punch of Grenadilla. “For that, I use the stock original Alpha bell.” Cocobolo Lumière Bell is amazing. I noticed it is so easy to play from “the open throat tones (like A) and middle-staff notes (like B natural) the sound is very confident, solid, and never fails to sound good very stable. It is hard to describe in words. But it is exactly the sound and response I was looking for in my Alpha. 0 regrets. And combined with the Lumière barrel, for me, it is the best. NOTE: The Lumière Bell will not fit right away in the Alpha Synthetic; the diameter is 0.6 mm different. But you can ask a professional to adjust the bell; I did the job myself. I can’t ask for more for my Alpha clarinet. Sound ufffffffffff beautiful. I feel very fortunate to have it. I will recommend go to a music shop and try it.

Hi Daniel,
Thank you so much for your kind words and it's great to hear you're loving your Alpha! You are correct, while Backun Accessories are compatible with the Alpha a fitting will be required since the tenon measurements are slightly different than our main line of products. This can be done for a nominal fee at most any repair shop, or we can adjust them before shipping upon request.
Enjoy your new clarinet!
This is my new entry for my Bb Protégé in cocobolo wood and a good companion to my Lumiere barrel.
I feel an improvement in my sound. More than an emotion.

Thank you for choosing Backun and for the beautiful photo, Pino! We are glad to hear that you love the new bell on your clarinet.
I am delighted with my new Lumiere campaign. There is a substantial change in projection and the cocobolo wood gives it a warmer tone that makes my clarinets even more versatile. Congratulations, Backun !!
I am only unhappy to have to pay almost €100 more for customs tax. It would be great if sending from Canada could solve that problem.
Good product, the carbon fiber ring located at the junction of the lower body and the bell makes it lighter and more resistant than traditional metal rings, I find the sound it gives for the fact of having the DVG impressive, with respect to wood is impressive both visual and auditory.

The double Voicing groove is AMAZING! It positively enhances the tonal Accuracy and quality throughout all registers of the clarinet. I also felt an improvement in how easy it was to go from the Clarion to the altissimo register.
When compared to my MOBA bell, which I have used for many years, (MOBA bell is more free blowing and produces a bigger sound), but the Lumière bell, albeit being more resistant, helps produce a focused sound.
I am extremely happy with my purchase. As many have said about the Lumiere, you can focus more on playing, and less on trying to fix The natural Intonation tendencies in my instrument.

Thank you for choosing Backun, Rodnie! We hope your new bell continues to bring your musical joy and fulfillment for many years to come!

I think I found my answer with this bell. Thank you very much.
I have always struggled with a consistently round and warm sound, especially in the upper clarion and altissimo, despite years of focused practice, instruction, and equipment scrutiny. The first note I played with the Lumière Bell sounded like a different instrument. The upper clarion sound is utter perfection.
Just as astonishing is the ease of response throughout the range at any dynamic. This bell is a game changer.
The addition of a Fatboy barrel and Lumiere bell has made my old Leblanc Concerto much easier to play. My lower register sounds much warmer, I can now blow over the break and hit upper register notes with ease, and overall, the horn no longer seems "stuffy."
I needed help in chaging my delivery address before my new Bb clarinet bell was shipped. They promptly took care of the issue and I was very pleased with the receipt of my new bell. Definetly noticed the difference in my sound. Very pleased.

Delighted with both the Lumiere barrel and bell; I can feel immediate benefits to my sound and my playing by the addition of these to my model F clarinet. Dispatched within hours and delivered within days halfway around the world.
We all know the feel of a stock bell. This bell gets rid of the sense of the longest notes being on a different horn. The tone is more focused and consistent with the notes surrounding, and the response coming from the instruments makes the notes feel like just another note on the clarinet scale. I love it!
Finally got a chance to spend some serious time with these Lumière barrels and bells. For those who were curious about my thoughts, they're terrific! A more focused and even sound compared to the more malleable tone of the MoBa. I'll most likely use both the MoBa and Lumière accessories going forward, depending on the situation.
Apart from the Lumiere bell, I only have a Backun Traditional bell in Cocobolo to compare it to, but it's a no-brainer as to which performs better. I ordered the Lumiere bell in Cocobolo, and I had to take a minute to admire the craftsmanship and beauty of this piece when I first received it. Where this bell shines is in the altissimo register of the clarinet, a place I no longer fear to go when the repertoire demands it. As an aspiring college clarinetist, I still have some work to do in polishing my altissimo register skills, but the Lumiere bell really gives me an edge in controlling the dynamics and the intonation. Now I feel a lot more confident jumping in and out of the altissimo register without the fear of missing a note or straining. The barrel is also lighter than I expected, but it still packs a powerful punch!
