Amazing quality and beautiful sound! I love the way the clarinet looks and feels to play. I just had a little trouble putting it together even when cork grease was applied since it was brand new.

The Clarinet itself plays very well. It has a nice even tone through all registers and the keys are comfortable to play.
Before I’ve played on Buffet Crampon RC, but now I changed for Alpha +, I’m shocked that student clarinet is really light, dark sound with easy fingering. I recommended for students and professional musicians.
I have been away from the clarinet for 60+ years. Cleaned up my Leblanc Noblet Paris from high school days, started playing and found I wanted to upgrade. Decided to rent the Backun from Sweetwater and after playing it for a couple of months I could not let i go. Bought it in Aug and despite the efforts to get back to some level of competence I have been having a blast with the instrument ever since.

This is hands down an incredible instrument for the price range and the category it is placed in. Taking into account that the Alpha Plus is categorized as a student clarinet, it is unbelievable how good its intonation and tonal quality is. On top of that, it is a very beautiful instrument. That bell without a metal ring looks so nice.

Plays fairly open, with shockingly stable articulation and intonation. Feels like it works for you and not against you across its entire range. Perfect for me as a secondary instrument!

I started playing in sixth grade middle school band a bunch of years ago. My student clarinet was not amazing and hard to play. My daughter started playing two years ago in fourth grade. Her beginning clarinet was OK, definitely better than mine. This Backun Alpha Plus clarinet out of the box sounded amazing! It looks beautiful, high-quality, and the sound is just beautiful. My daughter is excited to learn and play more with this new instrument. I am excited to play along with her, and may need to buy my own Backun clarinet in the near future.

I was looking for a good wooden clarinet, and tested this one back in October. Months later and many clarinets being tested later, I came back to this one because I just love it so much.
What a wonderful instrument. You guys have thought of everything. Of particular merit is the first class mouthpieces that comes with the instrument. I love the adjustable thumb rest. Also very helpful is the protective bar above the low E mechanism. The clarinet play wonderfully right out of the box. BRAVO!
I always wanted an outdoor clarinet of high quality and this one didn't disappoint. Wonderful intonation and resonance. Looking forward to playing outside this summer!

Amazing clarinet! Just received my Alpha Plus clarinet after playing on an older Yamaha 34. I knew after playing on Backun bells and barrels that I would eventually replace my clarinet with a Backun brand. This thing has power, response, and the keywork fits my hands so well. Can’t wait to break this clarinet in!

I've been playing clarinet for eight years and it was finally time to upgrade to a wooden one! I've only just begun to play it and still need to finish the break-in process but I am very happy with the warm sound it provides. Not to mention, the look is breathtaking !
