This is a new adventure for me, and I was confused about what to purchase in a comfortable price range. After several weeks of searching, I pulled the plug on your product and am very happy. This differs significantly from my saxophones, and Master Eric Dolphy inspired me.
She is a new addition to my family and a beautiful new color to paint.

Appreciate several improvements over other bass clarinets in this price point. The solid top quality metal used in the key work (-the flexing). The ability to tighten the middle joint and or having the set point rotation adjustment. The intonation is generally excellent.

I've not had my new bass clarinet for very long, but so far I love it. Its easy to play, easy to start out on the high notes and love the left pinky low g-sharp/high e-flat key - thank you for that!

Sounds beautiful! I'm loving my new bass clarinet!

It was very hard to assemble. The tenons and corks needed some sanding and lots of cork grease. It would be a good idea to include some assembly instructions for the two-piece bass clarinet, giving warnings about how to line up the parts without damaging the linkages. Also, instruct owners to seek help from an expert or a repair technicion if the parts remain difficult to assemble.
Once assembled, the clarinet performed flawlessly. It was easy to blow and the altissimo notes played very easily compared to my previous bass clarinet. It is a wonderful instrument.

Compared to the loaner 20yo Yamaha YCL-221 (band) Bass Clarinet I started on four months ago...
the clarion register is now easy to play and nothing shrieks when I do, crossing the break is easier. It is much easier to play on pitch throughout the range. The keywork ergonomics are so much better. I don't need a neck strap anymore; it plays in a neutral vertical position. Everyone in the community band says the Backun Alpha sounds much much better; indeed it does and it doesn't honk. This is all with the same beginner player with the same mouthpiece and reed. Must go practice now.

Easy-blowing and wonderfully agile. A bonus is that the left Ab/Eb is set in a place where i can reach it despite limited range in my left fingers. The only downside that I've found so far is that the tenon corks are so tight and make the clarinet horribly difficult to put together to start off with.

This is my first bass clarinet. It sounds fantastic after only a few hours of introduction. I am a clarinet/sax doubler and this completes my collection nicely.

I just received the Alpha bass clarinet (from Earspasm) and remain extremely impressed with the playability, fit and finish, and what looks like to be durable key work. Clearly, it is best in class!

Way better than I could ever hope
Right out of the box, this beautiful instrument played so well I was stunned. The sound is full and rich. Plays effortlessly. Am so looking forward to the next concert!!!

Fine Instrument, Great Customer Service, Wonderful Dealer
I had an issue with the fit of my first Alpha Low Eb bass clarinet and Backun immediately offered to replace it with a new instrument. I am sure that this new instrument will sound as good as the instrument it replaced.

My kid was blown away!
My kid is so passionate about playing bass clarinet, we wanted to get him his own for Christmas. I had never heard of Backun before - but they stood out to me because they specialize in clarinets. My boy loves this bass clarinet! After playing on school bass clarinets in middle school and now as a freshman in high school - he really appreciated the Beckun. He started pointing out cool features that were interesting and new to him. He loves playing it, and it sounds great.

I am enjoying my new bass clarinet. It plays easily and is beautiful.

So much beautiful redundancy and a pocket for my clarinet.

First impression is that the Alpha Low Eb Bass Clarinet is easy to play and accomplishing full range is easier than on my previous Buffet 1180 Bass Clarinet. Overall a beautiful instrument, I ordered the silver plated keys and the backpack case is fabulous. Looking forward to a great future playing this new bass clarinet.

I've been playing the soprano clarinet for a little over a decade now and while I don't have aspirations to become a true professional, I do love the sound of the bass clarinet and was soon searching for one to play and own. After looking at all the market had to offer, none had what the Alpha had in regards to the triple register mechanism, specially cut tone holes, and key/rod adjustability. All in a durable and and lightweight synthetic body. I'm using it for casual gigs, outdoor performances, and at church right now. Its a fantastic instrument.

I have been playing - and loving - a mid-1970's Selmer Model 32 bass (low Eb) for years, ever since I bought it from the gentleman that taught me clarinet back in high school. A fine instrument - at least until a pad dropped off the thing a week before a concert.
Two repair people and a few hundred dollars later, still didn't play right. I needed a back-up, and *fast* - bought a silver-plated Alpha from Kessler in Vegas, could get through the show.
The Selmer is now being worked on so that I'll have a reliable back-up horn. The Alpha is simply So. Much. Better. Never knew that ergonomics and intonation could be this fantabulous - and for the price it's absolutely ridiculous!
If I had a tail, I'd be wagging it.

Thanks for providing a solid instrument for a fair price.

I purchased this to replace my excellent Buffet Prestige bass clarinet which developed cracks just prior to a chamber orchestra performance featuring several bass clarinet solos. The Backun Low Eb is better than the Buffet and got me through the concert in good order. Excellent sounds, great keywork, a delight to play. I am now selling the Buffet.

It makes playing fun again.

Tone is far better than the instrument I had been playing.

Just opened and am super-impressed! I have a BC 1180, which I love, and this blows it away. Looking forward to playing more!

The Backun Alpha Low E flat bass clarinet is a great upgrade. So easy to play in the clarion register versus my previous bass clarinet. Tone is good, keys are solid and is easy-blowing. This is the perfect bass clarinet for my community band playing.

I'm 75 years old and have been playing school horns since junior high, so I've had opportunities to play many different student instruments. This bass clarinet exactly fits my needs and abilities, and the price is perfect. I just unboxed it today so I haven't had much chance to do more than run a few scales,, but I'm very impressed with the keywork and overall quality. Did I mention that I've never had a brand new instrument? This horn is great! I look forward to playing it for another 30 years or so!

I just received my new Bass Clarinet! I have been playing it this afternoon and I am loving it so far. I have been playing my friend’s Buffet Prestige and I am very pleased at the quality of sound the Backun makes! It plays easily. So far so good! I m glad to have it and I look forward to playing it more!

I absolutely love this instrument. It is beautifully crafted and a pleasure to play!

I used to play with Yamaha bass clarinet 221. I tested and switched with alpha bass clarinet. I love it. Even my team members noticed and praised.
