Shattering expectations with precision and flexibility.

A custom mouthpiece for Corrado Giuffredi, the Maestro himself, the Vocalise CG was designed by renowned craftsman, Richard Hawkins to replicate the playing characteristics of crystal in a mouthpiece that is machined to unbelievably high tolerances.

Crafted from a proprietary clear synthetic material, the Vocalise CG Mouthpiece is Open/Long, while giving players a flexible and vibrant tone. Vocalise CG Mouthpieces are manufactured using the most technologically advanced nine-axis machining available today. For those looking for a mouthpiece that articulates with ease and holds a clear quality of sound at extreme volumes, this model delivers on stage and in the studio.

Like all Vocalise Mouthpieces, the CG model is exceptionally versatile and adaptable to a wide range of playing styles, and is suitable for both synthetic and cane reeds, alike.

In the words of the Maestro: YES!

Note: All New Mouthpieces from Backun are cleaned, disinfected and sterilized for your health and safety.

Washing Instructions: We recommend you wash your Backun Mouthpieces with warm water and mild dishwashing soap, and then air dry them on a clean cloth. In classroom and group situations, we recommend the use of the Sterisol cleaner (the red one) for its proven capability to clean, deodorize and sanitize mouthpieces.

Please do not immerse your mouthpieces in, or clean your mouthpieces with, isopropyl, or other members of the hydroxyl group of products.

Richard Hawkins on the Vocalise CG

“The Vocalise CG Bb Clarinet Mouthpiece is the first of its kind. A clear material that embodies the compactness of sound that glass/crystal creates, while benefitting from the exceptional consistency that advanced machining offers. It is a material not molded, but rather, milled like hard rubber to extremely precise tolerances. This model has a voice that combines darkness and lightness to the sound with remarkable volume and heftiness. Extreme louds hold the quality of sound unlike any other mouthpiece or material I’ve ever come across.”
